As a RM professional, it appears that the focus needs to be on not just selling a product to seniors, but rather helping them to understand the pros and cons of a RM and determing whether it is right for them. There are many seniors who understand the equity "draw-down." However, this fact alone does not outway the benefits of improved quality of life they could expect when having access to dormant equity dollars. Clearly, there is no majic bullets to solve a myriad of problems that may be facing seniors and their heirs--whom are also concerned with the responsibility of taking care of their parents. The RM is simply a tool in their arsenal and should be understood rather than feared because of negative, slanted press.
