My mother's home was appraised for half of it's value thanks to a scam with the government. This FHA appraiser did not count but half of the home...Gave us 10000 which is ridiculous for a lake lot...worth 20 times that. I am ticked...this loan is OFF. I have been in the real estate business for 38 years. My mother is a broker...we had a million questions and all were answered just fine. We were in. UNTIL the appraiser came out to screw us. I know what properties sell for like this one...gave the appraiser 6 listings that had sold and closed on lakes close by within the last 3 months. He used properties in sub adequate areas...did not include half the house...we have over 5000 sq feet and he said 2500...IDIOT. The government is out to steal the elderly's homes...I know all about the economy...dearies...I do this for a living. Own my own real estate company. Now I see...the scam is clear. How could we be so stupid...they underestimate the value...and steal your home...if you let them. In 10 years you have NO EQUITY. Rip Off...Don't dare do this...we cancelled the loan. We will have to have my mom sell her home...that she loves...needed some cash...but hell, not to give to the government...paleeze. Are we all gonna fall for this crap?
